Youth Mental Health First Aid May 27th & May 28th, 2015 Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved. The 2-day, 14-hour certified basic training course is a program of the Mental Health Commission of Canada and covers the following topics: Signs and symptoms of mental health problems and crisis situations A basic model to provide mental health first aid Information about how to help in a crisis and how to help prevent a crisis Encouraging a youth to identify options for help To register or for more information, please call Jessica Dodge 613-345-0950 EXT. 4 Did you know that half of all mental disorders begin by the age 14-24?
