• Attaining a GCSE in Maths is essential for Level 3 study and most jobs.

• The competition for all post 16 options is fierce and we need to equip our students adequately.

• This system means that we are not waiting until the end of Year 11 to find out results. Students will know where they are up to and what they need to focus on.

The bigger picture: GCSE • Top set students can handle the GCSE format • It ensures that they bank a GCSE a year early • They are supported by very good staff • Our results with previous groups are brilliant.

• This programme stretches the learning of students AS • The ultimate aim is for students to sit their AS in Religious Studies in year 11. Again, our previous and current cohorts have done very well. We currently have 60 students in our 6 th form who are in year 12 but know how an AS looks, feels and are aware of the demands of the subject. Their maturity is amazing.

• In our year 13 class (A2) we have 4 year 12 students who are completing a full A’ Level a year early to ensure that they have grades banked to reassure them of their progress towards their chosen next step.

Why FCSE?

• It recognises and rewards achievement in French/Spanish for pupils in year 9.

• It provides excellent progression for pupils who choose to study a language at GCSE. If you are thinking about going to university then you should think about doing at least one MFL at GCSE level. It is viewed as an impressive achievement regardless of the university course that you want to study.
