Free Kicks (13) U.S. Soccer Federation Referee Program Grade 8 Referee Course Competitive Youth Training Quick or Ceremonial Kick? Quick Free Kick o Ball must be properly placed o Ball must be stationary o Kicking team has the option of taking kick quickly o No whistle is required “You take a quick kick, you take your chances.” Quick Free Kick - Risks Defender moving closer than 10 yards to ball interferes with kick • Stop play, caution, retake the kick Any other circumstance, play continues.
