Quick Facts on Networks
 CDPD network is coming down. Mobitex networks are expensive
and becoming less reliable.
 New Packet Data Networks are more reliable and garner higher
degree of support.
 “CDMA2000 1x offers data speeds peaking at 144 Kbps with
average data speeds in the 40-90 Kbps range, more than double the
real speeds obtainable using GSM/GPRS systems.”
Andrew Seybold, 3G Wireless Systems Meet the Needs of U.S. Corporations Today!,
June 2002
 “CDMA2000 offers data rates that are more than twice that of GPRS
and an increase in voice capacity of between 40 and 70 percent
compared to cdmaOne.”
Yankee Group, TDMA Carriers in Latin American Have many Technology Paths for
Cellular Migration, January 2003
