What is giftedness?
"Gifted and talented student" means a child or youth
who performs at or shows the potential for
performing at a remarkably high level of
accomplishment when compared to others of the
same age, experience, or environment and who:
1. exhibits high performance capability in an
intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
2. possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
3. excels in a specific academic field.

If the child’s scores indicate the need for further testing, they will
move on to Level Two and will be tested.

Must score in the top 5%
Calendar and Timelines
September 18- Community GT Awareness Meeting
October 17- Referral Deadline
December 5- Notification to parents regarding Level 1 mailed
December 8-12- Level 2 Testing of those who qualified
February 13- Notification to parents regarding Level 2 mailed
March 2- Kindergarten services begin
May 15- Appeals due to campus principal
May 22- Appeals portfolios due
May 29- District level appeals
June 5- Appeals notification to parents
August 2015- 1st-12th grade services begin
