Planning & development office (approx 8 staff) in
place since Nov ’07
Current (3 year) strategic plan approved by GB in
Dec ’08
Faculties & schools required to produce annual
operational plans
Strategic plan to be updated annually, but
maintained as a 3 year plan
Overall aim is to integrate a range of current
planning activities (Academic, operational,
resource, IT, risk analysis etc.), to minimise
duplication & strengthen outputs

mapped onto the calendar (Finance, HR, Academic
Affairs)
Clarity required between planning activities,
operational activities & quality assurance activities
A position paper to be prepared by the planning office
for consideration & approval by the Directorate
The full position paper to be reviewed in detail by a
mixed group of academic & functional managers (at
Head of School level), in a two day workshop
(Expected mid Apr 09)
Feedback to be built into the proposed planning model
Final process to be reviewed & approved by
Directorate (expected by mid May 09)
