Find Where You Are
• Location along an active leg
– Bearing to a landmark
– Using a grid line
– Using a waypoint
Find Where You Are
• Location in open water
– Use pre-selected waypoints, charted objects, or
intersecting grid lines on the chart
• Use your radar to identify charted objects
and determine the range and bearing
Plot a Safe Path to the New
Destination
• Entering new waypoints into the GPS
– Enter latitude and longitude coordinates
– Be careful to avoid making errors!
– Measure bearing and distance on your chart to
intermediate waypoints and your destination
