EFM Visit
► Introduction
of new EFM team members
► Federal fund closeout process
Cayuse/S2S Common Review Comments
► Biosketch
 Use new NIH biosketch format (including header table and new
section C. Contributions)
 Per the new guidelines: “For each contribution, reference up to
four peer-reviewed publications or other non-publication research
products...”
 Remember to check the bibliography URLs and make sure they are
public, not private.
► Bibliography
 Please confirm publications are in compliance with NIH’s Public
Access Policy.
 Please list all authors in publications (no “et al”).
► EPASS
 If any unfunded effort (effort without salary), check yes and
indicate source/FAU to cover salary.
NIH Updates
► New
NIH BioSketch
 Personal Statement and each Contribution can
list a max of 4 citations each.
 Make sure the link to full list of publications is
live.
 Figures, graphs, etc. are allowed in the
Contributions section.
 Half page limitation for each Contribution &
including the link to the full list of publications is
a SHOULD not a MUST.
Restricted Carryforwards
► How
do you know if your carryforward is
automatic or restricted?
► Single fund number vs. multiple fund number
► What is the 400005-8A Account/CC?
► New FPM/QDB features.
► How to request approval for a restricted
carryfoward.
► Following through with EFM to assure your
approved carryforward is appropriated into your
grant fund.
► Difference between carryforward and offset
Policy 913 & NIH Flow Through
► What
is Policy 913?
► Many NIH flow through subawards are being
designated by OCGA as subject to Policy 913.
► We have raised this issue with OCGA, and they are
looking into whether the funds are really subject
to Policy 913 or not.
► If you have similar funds that are not on my list,
please let me know so that I may add it.

► Please make every effort to get your remaining open
reports certified by the July 29, 2015 deadline!
► Reminder: Every overdue report is a potential audit
disallowance!
Fiscal Year End Closing
►NPEAR
Deadline: July 14th
 Extremely important to move expenses from unrestricted
funds.
 Review your OPEN expenses, and NPEAR as necessary
prior to deadline.
 Accounting will NOT be forgiving, and will NOT process JE
for you after FYE close.
Research Administrators Forum

send ALL proposal packages
 All proposals that will be submitted by OCGA
need to be submitted 5 business days prior to
deadline
 All internal documents from proposals that have
been submitted by DOM DRA
 PI & Fund Manager should receive immediate
acknowledgement from Intake Team
