Do I Need to Appeal for Financial Aid?
Check your Pipeline email account.
You would have received and email from [email protected].
The SBCC Financial Aid Office sends out an email to
students who are not meeting the standards for
Satisfactory Academic Progress.
The email notice is sent after all the grades from the
previous semester are turned in and processed by the
Admissions and Records Office.
Do I Need to Appeal for Financial Aid?
Check your Academic Progress status.
If the most recent status for Effective Term is
Excessive Units
Completed Zero Units
Disqualified
Not Meeting Academic Plan
You will need to appeal.
Do I Need to Appeal for Financial Aid?
Check your Academic Progress status in Pipeline.
Go to Financial Aid, then Status, then Academic Progress.
The student in this example should review the SAP Policy
but does not need to appeal for the next semester.
Checking SAP Status in Pipeline
Step 1: Log into your Pipeline account via the web at
http://pipeline.sbcc.edu.
Step 2: At the Pipeline home page, click on Financial Aid at
the right hand side of the home page under Registration and
Student Records.
Step 3: At the Financial Aid page, click on Status.
Step 4: At the Status page, click on Academic Progress.

Warning
This status means that you do not need to appeal since it is
the first semester you have
Not met the cumulative GPA requirement or
Not met the Pace of Progression requirement.
You do not need to appeal to receive financial aid.

Meeting SAP Standards
This status means that you do not need to appeal since you
met or exceeded the standards outlined in the SAP Policy.
You successfully
Met or exceeded the minimum GPA requirement and
Met or exceeded the minimum Pace of Progression.
You do not need to appeal to receive financial aid.

Meeting Academic Plan
This status means that you do not need to appeal since you
previously agreed to an Academic Plan and you
Met or exceeded the expected GPA you proposed and
Completed the number of units you outlined in the
Academic Plan.
You do not need to appeal to receive financial aid.

Excessive Units
This status means that you need to appeal because
You have attempted more units than allowed for your
program of study.
You need to appeal to receive financial aid.

Disqualified
This status means that you need to appeal because you have
Not met the cumulative GPA requirement or
Not met the Pace of Progression requirement.
You need to appeal to receive financial aid.

Completed Zero Units
This status means that you need to appeal because in your
last enrolled semester you have
Withdrawn from all classes or
Completed no classes.
You need to appeal to receive financial aid.

This status means that you need to appeal since you
previously agreed to an Academic Plan but you
Did not meet the expected GPA you proposed and/or
Did not complete the number of units you outlined in the
Academic Plan.

Not Eligible to Appeal
This status means that you are not able to appeal because
Your SAP appeal for financial aid from a previous
semester was denied and
You have not met the SBCC SAP standards.
You are not able to appeal and will not receive financial aid
for your next enrolled semester.

special appeal procedures.

Which Financial Aid is Affected by SAP?
The Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy applies to
Federal Pell Grant and SEOG Grant
Federal Work Study
Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans
Federal Parent Loans and
Cal Grant and Osher Scholarships.
Which Financial Aid is Affected by SAP?
The Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy does not apply to
The Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver (BOGW)
Alternative Loans and
Most SBCC Campus Based and Off Campus Scholarships.
