Year 11 Exam Preparation Evening 20th November 2014 “Parental involvement in children’s education from an early age has a significant effect on educational achievement, and continues to do so into adolescence and adulthood.” The Impact of Parental Involvement on Children’s Education Motivation- not just for the kids! Parental support is 8 times more important in determining a child’s academic success than social class. The Campaign for Learning found that parental involvement in a child’s education can mean the difference between an A* and an ‘alsoran’ at GCSE. Look familiar? What you can do… • Give them a sense of control • Build in rewards • Talk to them • Praise when earned She always panics in exams and I’m worried that she won’t cope. Always the last minute with everything. He tells me to “chill” but I seem to be the only one who is worried! Going out again! He’s got exams coming up. I don’t understand half of what she does.
