What is Title I?

The Title I program is a federally funded program which enables schools to provide programs and services to students that help them master content standards (TEKS) and meet the challenges of state performance standards (STAAR).

Who Benefits?

The Title I program benefits all students in the school. This program allows schools to use Title I funds to pay for educational programs for the whole school. This program offers services and programs that can help improve your child’s education.

Help For All Students

Title I schools work to:  develop and implement programs that will add to the regular classroom instruction.

 Parental Involvement activities and workshops  Supplemental instructional supplies and materials for classroom use for Reading and Math  School Support Staff (Instructional Specialist for Interventions)  Instructional support for extended week tutorials, as well as summer school  Professional development for teachers 5

Parental Involvement is Key

 Research has shown that parent’s interest and encouragement in a child’s education can affect a child’s:  attitude toward school  classroom behavior  self-esteem  absenteeism  motivation 6

Parental Involvement Policy

 The overall aim of this policy is to develop a partnership between the school and the parents that will ensure student achievement.
