Virtual DID Overview
Virtual DID’s are used by the DID Server These DID’s do not have their own dial tone. They must be forwarded to another existing extension.
These include Guest Rooms Fax Machines Meeting Rooms Hospitality Suites
Database Design
DID Server performs ‘automated’ assignments on guest rooms and others pseudo-rooms that support check in/out from the PMS System.
ROOMS/EXTENSIONS can receive DID’s Automatically – Default for guest rooms Manually – Default for meeting rooms This is configurable for each ‘room’ entity
Integration
The DID Server works closely with the COMMHUB or PPIC Systems. These systems have extensive database that describe what will happen in terms of DID Assignments for each room.
Extensions and Suite Numbers are elements of the Room Records and are used as required for system type and configuration.
Integration
Meeting Rooms
(2) types of DID’s are used in this environment Virtual – in the DID Server or PBX. They must be ‘forwarded’ to other physical extensions.
Physical – actually have their own dialtone. Typically part of a Patch Panel or hard wire system. Do not exist in DID Server, but may exist in COMMHUB or PPIC Database for posting and restriction purposes.
Virtual DID’s
Virtual DID’s can be used to enhance services in Meeting Rooms through the DID Server Check-In Meeting Room Extension in PMS Assign Virtual DID to Meeting Room Extension through DID Manager Menu in PPIC/COMMHUB Calls Made will Pos to PMS Folio CA to PPIC to PMS Check-Out in the PMS
Virtual DID’s
Physical DID’s
Are treated like guest rooms. Follow this Procedure: Check-in Patch Panel DID Extension in the PMS Un-restricts Phone – allows posting Connect Physical DID to Patch Panel Jack Location – Jack is hot Calls made will Post to PMS Folio CA to PPIC to PMS Check-Out in the PMS Restricts Phone Remove Patch Panel Cabling – Jack is dead
