Garnet Valley High School
Student Achievement Goals:
1. To demonstrate a percentage increase in scores for all
performance levels in the Keystone exams in Algebra,
Literature and Biology.
2. To promote awareness of the importance of the PSAT
for all students with a focus on high performing students
in Grades 9, 10, and 11.
3. To create a positive school culture and recognize its
relationship to student achievement.
GVHS - Student Achievement Goals
Goal 1: To demonstrate a percentage increase in scores
for all performance levels in the Keystone exams in
Algebra, Literature and Biology.
● Analyze Keystone scores and PVAAS data to identify
areas of instruction for increased proficiency and
growth.
● Administer and utilize data from CDT (Classroom
Diagnostic Tool) to target instruction.
● Provide Professional Learning opportunities for staff to
review curriculum and implement teaching methods
aligned to the PA Core Standards, Literacy Standards,
and Webb’s Depth of Knowledge.

Goal 1 continued:
● Familiarize teachers with various co-teaching models for
use with Special Education students; provide time for
implementation of these methods.
● Utilize the Enhancement period for remediation in
preparation for the Keystones.
● Offer Keystone summer remediation and online
resources
● Pilot the use of the “APEX” /software program as a
remediation tool; a blended learning opportunity
● To investigate opportunities for ALL students to
experience rigorous curriculum by changes to curriculum
objectives, course offerings, and course sequencing.

Goal 2: To promote awareness of the importance of the
PSAT for all students with a focus on high performing
students in Grades 9, 10, and 11.
● Offer a PSAT Practice test prior to the October test
administration
● Discussion of the importance of PSAT & SAT in HS101
classes (Grade 9) & ATP Students in Grade 10
● PSAT practice books distributed to Grades 10 & 11
● Assembly program for top ranked juniors to discuss the
importance of PSAT and qualification for National Merit.
● Provide academically talented juniors with focused
practiced for the PSAT during the enhancement period.

Goal 3: To recognize the importance of a positive school
culture and its effect on student achievement.
● Revisit the school vision, mission, district/building goals
and current culture to determine changes to be made.
● Expand the Olweus focus to include Social Thinking
● Expand leadership roles by involving “ascension leaders”
in professional development opportunities associated
with our goals.
● Educate staff on best practices related to Danielson’s
Teacher Effectiveness Model, PA Core, etc.
● Recognize staff members for positive contributions to the
school culture.

● A1. Goal Statement: Increase the Reading
Comprehension score as measured by the PSSA.
● A2. Goal Statement: Increase percentages correct in
the following Eligible content measured by the PSSA:
§ 6th grade-Measurement and Geometry
§ 7th grade-Measurement
§ 8th grade-Data Analysis and Probability
● A3. Goal Statement: Using the data provided by
PVAAS we will focus on instruction designed to target
students in ALL proficiency levels.

A1. Goal Statement: Increase the Reading
Comprehension score as measured by the PSSA.
● Identify Eligible Content areas that display weakness for
these students
● Refine the use of study hall and SSR period to create
remediation groups.
● Increase writing of biased and unbiased text.
● Investigate the use of CDT (Classroom Diagnostic
Tools) in selected teachers’ classrooms

Goal: To improve students’ performance in mathematics as
measured by state and local assessments, with
additional emphasis on student growth as measured by
PVAAS.
Action Steps:
● Teachers will gain familiarity and ease of use with the
new Math curriculum and instructional materials through
in-service opportunities at district presentations, team
meetings, and faculty meetings.
● Review PSSA and PVAAS data to analyze
programmatic and individual strengths and weaknesses
in Mathematics.

and review with teachers.

the movement of students to the Proficient
