Bible Study
Do your best to present yourself
to God as one approved, a
worker who does not need to be
ashamed and who correctly
handles the word of truth.
- 2 Timothy 2:15
To Correctly Handle
The Word of God We Will
• Read what it says.
• Learn what it means.
• Apply it to our lives.
Why Read the Bible?
We Learn What We Believe
Consequently, faith comes from hearing
the message, and the message is heard
through the word about Christ.
- Romans 10:17
We Learn God’s Ways
How can a young man keep his way pure?
By guarding it according to your word.
-Psalm 119:9
We Learn the Way to Go
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light
to my path.- Psalm 119:105
How Should We
Read the Bible?
How to Read the Bible:
• Read Consistently
• Read Thoroughly
• Read with Intention
Romans 12:1-5 (ESV)
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the
mercies of God, to present your bodies as
a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to
God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do
not be conformed to this world, but be
transformed by the renewal of your mind,
that by testing you may discern what is the
will of God, what is good and acceptable
and perfect.
Romans 12:1-5 (ESV)
3 For by the grace given to me I say to
everyone among you not to think of
himself more highly than he ought to think,
but to think with sober judgment, each
according to the measure of faith that God
has assigned. 4 For as in one body we
have many members, and the members
do not all have the same function, 5 so we,
though many, are one body in Christ, and
individually members one of another.
Romans 12:1-5 (NLT)
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with
you to give your bodies to God because of all he
has done for you. Let them be a living and holy
sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This
is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the
behavior and customs of this world, but let God
transform you into a new person by changing
the way you think. Then you will learn to know
God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing
and perfect.
Romans 12:1-5 (NLT)
3 Because of the privilege and authority
God has given me, I give each of you this
warning: Don’t think you are better than
you really are. Be honest in your
evaluation of yourselves, measuring
yourselves by the faith God has given us.
4 Just as our bodies have many parts and
each part has a special function, 5 so it is
with Christ’s body. We are many parts of
one body, and we all belong to each other.
Romans 12:1-5 (GWT)
Brothers and sisters, in view of all we have
just shared about God’s compassion, I
encourage you to offer your bodies as
living sacrifices, dedicated to God and
pleasing to him. This kind of worship is
appropriate for you. 2 Don’t become like
the people of this world. Instead, change
the way you think. Then you will always be
able to determine what God really wants—
what is good, pleasing, and perfect.
Romans 12:1-5 (GWT)
3 Because of the kindness that God has shown
me, I ask you not to think of yourselves more
highly than you should. Instead, your thoughts
should lead you to use good judgment based on
what God has given each of you as believers.
4 Our bodies have many parts, but these parts
don’t all do the same thing. 5 In the same way,
even though we are many individuals, Christ
makes us one body and individuals who are
connected to each other.
