• UV capsule 60 shows much better photo-stability compared to other nano size TiO2
• Samples (left) showed relatively good photo-stability among
commercial TiO2
• These have common surface treatment, i.e., either silica or
alkyl silane, which are known as the best coating agents
• UV capsule 60 is coated with both silica and alkyl silane up to
40% to guarantee perfect compatibility and photo-stability

• 40% TiO2 is encapsulated in 5um silica bead
TiO2

With 12nm TiO2
• The crystal size of TiO2 is on average 12nm and is perfectly
encapsulated within the silica bead
• Due to encapsulation, surface characteristics, e.g. rough touch & feel,
of TiO2 are not present.
• As nano-sized TiO2 is well dispersed within the silica beads,
transparency of Tin40 is exceptionally good.
• As the surface of Tin40 is silica, Tin40 exhibits the excellent dispersion
properties of silica in both oil and water media.
• The manufacturing process is easier and formulation stability is more
reliable compared to the use of common nano-sized TiO2.
• Synergistic SPF boost shown with TiO2.
