What did you like about the Distance Learning experience? ______________________________________________________________________ I think it’s a great opportunity for the students and teachers to have the ability to ______________________________________________________________________ share in the learning experience in a distance learning environment. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I loved every part of it. It was so very interesting so professional! ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I found it extremely interesting. The level of teaching is superior and the offering of ______________________________________________________________________ different classes to students is very helpful. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ The kids get to work with kids from different size schools. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I always enjoy watching the students converse and seeing different teaching styles of ______________________________________________________________________ teachers. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I have always liked the connection between different schools. What did you dislike about the Distance Learning experience? ______________________________________________________________________ Sometimes other districts don’t pay attention to the teacher when other schools are ______________________________________________________________________ trying to speak. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Working with the different schools and how each school has a different set of rules. It ______________________________________________________________________ can be difficult to know what action should be taken. For example; when there are ______________________________________________________________________ attendance issues. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I had a bad mixture of students in one of my classes. Half wanted to learn and half ______________________________________________________________________ came unprepared to class. No book, no paper, no pen, did not take notes etc. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Some of the instructors need to learn how to connect with the classes that are ______________________________________________________________________ receiving. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Faxing work back and forth can be a problem at times. We used Blackboard in our ______________________________________________________________________ Marine Science and I felt that helped. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Some items do not fax well. Have the teacher send assignments ahead if they need to be copied. Thank you. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Have students that have signed up to take classes for next year come into the DL, ______________________________________________________________________ view the room , look over the contract, talk with the DL Aide and then decide if they ______________________________________________________________________ really would like to take the class. I would be very willing to do this over the summer. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ As a group by class, have students come in and view the DL facility beforehand to ______________________________________________________________________ make sure they are comfortable with the setup and discuss the DL contract. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ The ability to meet others early in the course so the students and teacher bond faster. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Some schools get too involved with the personal things that are going on in their ______________________________________________________________________ school and the tend to leave the receiving schools out in the cold. The other ______________________________________________________________________ instructors I've been involved with for the past four years have never done that. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Students need to be VERY quiet or it can be distracting. One big issue is the lack of ______________________________________________________________________ computers available for students. If they had a project to work on that required ______________________________________________________________________ computers, I had to find various available computers throughout the school. General Comments ______________________________________________________________________ Cell phones were a big problem this year in the DL. Guidance should try to screen ______________________________________________________________________ students a little better [and only place students] who want to take DL courses. Even if ______________________________________________________________________ it means having 1 -2 students instead of 12 or more who don’t want to be here. I like ______________________________________________________________________ the variety of courses. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I guess there is nothing you can do about it, but a new (first year teacher) should not ______________________________________________________________________ do distance learning. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ Could there be a day or two set aside over the summer that all DL aides can get ______________________________________________________________________ together and meet? This would enable us to get to know each other before school ______________________________________________________________________ starts. Possibly have teachers attend too, so we all know who we are working with. ______________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________ I would like to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome to the program. Last year there were static sounds coming through the ______________________________________________________________________ speakers.
