Pelet Grupa biomass power plant in Croatia
The biomass power plant provides energy for pellet production
The plant to be constructed in the city of Novska, Croatia, will produce
30,750 MWh of heat per annum. This will be used within a wood pellet
production facility. In addition, 7,125 MWh of electricity will be cogenerated and fed into the electrical grid.
Type of project
• Renewable Energy – Development of combined heat and
power plant
Region
The power plant will run with forest wood chips, which will come from the
region. In comparison with conventional thermal (fossil fuel based) plants,
the project will contribute to a CO2 reduction of 24,439 t p.a.
The total investment amount is €6.6 million. EBRD supports the project
with a loan of €3.7 million.
The region will benefit from the project. It will utilize renewable and
domestically available energy sources and it will bring investments into
the local community.
