Taking into consideration lesson learned and successes during the first phase. Financial Sustainability Business model for a Fifth World Centre Several sustainable workable models for World Conference And/or Proposal to extend pilot period What did we learn? From the mid evaluation • • • • • There is a lot of interest in the 5WC concept Significant staff resource is required when there is a new venue each time (particularly for a new concept) Building an integrated planning team and leveraging other WC knowledge is key Many participants require financial support MO engagement is key The evaluation highlighted also: • There has been a large focus on delivering 3 events to date, and its now time to use these experiences to again revisit the strategic intent. The Shanzu experience can be part of this new thinking • We are yet to describe a ‘model’ of how the 5WC could work – so we need to focus on the other aspects not yet explored • We need to be clear on what else we need to do, in order to be able to build a model • From this we can continue to create a shared vision What do we need to do? We need to : • • • We need to be able to describe all the elements it will take for a 5WC to become, and remain operational (and options for these as we develop our thinking) Reflect on what is it that will make the most fundamental difference to a girl/young woman in Africa having a future where Focus on the WAGGGS vision : “All girls and young women are valued and take action to change the world.” Next steps for the pilot : • Community action event in Shanzu Kenya Girl Guides Centre November 2013 focussed on Economic Empowerment • Working on a model to recommend to the World Conference 2014 What do we mean by a model ? Program development & delivery Operational delivery (HR, infrastructure, standards, etc.) Meeting WAGGGS vision 5WC $ Balancing risks and opportunities (initial capital, business plan to deliver viable operations) Marketing (product, audiences, reaching them etc.) Thank you
