Bus transportation is provided. The courses are 2 periods and will be scheduled for AM or PM. If you plan to enroll in a Career Center course at anytime, it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to have your 4 year plan in place to ensure completing all your credits to graduate. You will be required to stay in the courses chosen so do your research! Career Cruising Course selections MUST be submitted in Career Cruising. Career Cruising Video Submit and print sign off sheet and 4 year plan. Then turn in along with the course selection sheet. Rising Freshman MUST return the Declaration of Endorsement Form. BE CAREFUL that you give this consideration when selecting courses designated as local credits. Drill Team, Cheerleading & External PE Drill Team, Cheerleading and External PE are NOT on the course selection sheets. Please choose a full course load and make a note on your sheet for your counselor. Course Selections Fine Arts – 1 credit Art Band Choir Dance JV Drill/Drill Team (Spring only) Orchestra Theater Arts Music Theory GPA Computation Multiplier for a Regular Class is 1.1 Multiplier for a Pre-AP is 1.2 Multiplier for AP is 1.3 High School Credit for Middle School Courses Algebra 1 Spanish 1& Spanish 2 Art 1 Principles of Human Services Things to Ponder • Check college requirements when selecting courses. This could influence what courses you should take. • Students enrolling in Pre-AP or AP classes should carefully consider your overall class loads and course requirements. • If you take an AP class-you should be prepared to take the AP exams. You could possibly earn college credit for scores on AP exams. ALL STUDENTS ALL students must complete the registration process regardless of plans to move or not be at TCHS next school year. Course Description Guide The Course Description Guide lists all of the courses that are available to all campuses in LISD. If a course is not listed on your course selection sheet, you CANNOT sign up for that course. TCHS does not offer it or it is unavailable at a certain grade level. When choosing your courses check for: Prerequisites Teacher Recommendation required Grade level requirements Age level requirements EX: page 91 Fees Other Requirements AVID AVID will be offered during a zero period (before/after school) and will not be paired with another course. See our AVID teacher at her table for more details. TCHS Electives Fair Don’t know what electives to choose? Elective teachers will be available to answer questions. This is the opportunity to explore potential elective options. February 26th 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM in the Small Gym SCHEDULE CORRECTION POLICY Schedule Changes will ONLY be made for the following reasons: • The student has not met the prerequisites for the course (i.e. English 2, yet hasn’t passed English 1). •The student already has credit for the course. • If there is not a specific period scheduled. • To balance AP & PAP courses. PLEASE be mindful when choosing your courses! The Master Schedule is made according to the pre-selection of students. There will be no room for movement when school begins in August. AP/PRE-AP SCHEDULE CHANGE POLICY To change out of an AP or Pre-AP class to a Non AP or Non Pre-AP class, you must wait 3 weeks after being in the class, you AND your parent must meet with the counselor, administrator and teacher before these changes can occur. Scheduling materials due back! Thursday, March 5th to your teacher! IMPORTANT!!!! If you FAIL to return your course selection sheet with parent signature your courses will be chosen for you and you will NOT be able to change them in August! Course Verification Sheets Counselors will send out Course Verification Sheets in May. At this time, students will be given the opportunity to verify courses that were selected.
