Welcome back to the new school year, I hope everyone has had a lovely summer break.
We are looking forward to another successful year here at St Matthew’s, staff have
been very busy over the summer planning the curriculum and preparing for the
year ahead.
We are delighted to welcome two new apprentice teaching assistants, Miss Wood is
working in class one and Miss Chamberlain class two.
As always we welcome anyone who would like to help in school for anything from
listening to readers to assisting in craft sessions or mounting work for display etc.
Please let me know if you would like to help.
A special thanks to Susan Johnson who stepped in at the end of last term and
cleaned the school and to Stephanie Agnew who gave the school its big clean during
the summer break. Thankfully Mrs Hewetson is now back at work following her
broken rib accident.
Another special thanks to Susan Johnson who has stepped in as school cook during
Mrs Atkinson’s absence following an operation, also thanks to Sharron Sim who is
helping out in the kitchen.
Over the summer we have taken delivery of a playhouse which is situated at the back
of the school, some of the money raised from the afternoon tea will pay for the
playhouse.
We have already welcomed four new children Harley Harrison, Seth Chester, Jayden
Harrison and Aston Crozier into our reception class. The transition from pre-school
to school has been really smooth as they all know school really well from attending
pre-school.
Out theme this term is Pirates (class 1) seaside and rivers (class 2). A copy of the
school time table is attached.
As always we have an open door policy at St Matthew’s and if anyone has any
problems of difficulties regarding your child do not hesitate to get in touch.
Mrs Satterthwaite.
