Persons: sister, friend, student. lawyer,
banker
Places: neighborhood, town, country,
restaurant, skating rink
Things: chair, sock, hat, desk, tree, cloud
Ideas: skill, truth, democracy, success
A common noun is a noun that names any
person, place, thing, or idea.
Examples: lawyer, teacher, athlete, building,
city, movie
A proper noun names something specific.
- They are always capitalized.
Examples: Mrs. Anderson, Cortland
Finnigan(Titans player), Empire State
