Пред. ГКНТ г-на И.В. Войтова с Министром образования и науки Латвии г-жой Б. Ривжей. Стороны договорились о поддержке в 2007 г. Нескольких совместных белорусско-латвийских проектов. During the VI Belarus National Fair in Riga (Dec 2006), the Deputy Head of the State Comm For Sci and Tech Dr I. Voytov and Minister of Sci and Ed of Latvia Ms B Rivge agree to support several joint Projects. Good news! Joint seminars and workshops as startup events India is much more distant from Belarus then Baltic countries. Why not? R&D in the Republic of BELARUS SOME EXAMPLES: They are ready to engage in competition B.I. Stepanov Institute of Physics, NAS Belarus Laboratory of Nonlinear Optics Head of the laboratory – Academician of NASB, Prof. Valentin Orlovich Laboratory staff: 2 professors; 4 doctors; 6 young scientists and post-graduate students Scientific collaboration: with the scientists from USA, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Russia, Japan Main directions of investigations: 1. Laser physics (all-solid-state tunable lasers in UV, visible, and near IR, diode-pumped lasers). 2. Nonlinear optics (physics of stimulated Raman scattering (SRS), applications of SRS for the 3. conversion of laser parameters. 4. Laser spectroscopy (spontaneous Raman scattering, surface-enhanced Raman scattering and their applications) The main results for the last years: ! three new types of solitary waves are observed; ! super-Gaussian statistics of radiation intensity fluctuations in broadband SRS is revealed; ! for the first time, Raman conversion of femtosecond laser pulses in crystals is obtained; ! for the first time, intracavity SRS in pulsed diode-pumped microchip lasers is studied; ! for the first time, continuous wave generation in crystalline Raman lasers is obtained; ! all-solid-state pulsed, quasi-continuous wave and continuous wave laser systems (including tunable ones) for applications in spectroscopy, ecology, medicine, and industry are created.
