Company History
• Design engineers George Wall, John Kathe, and George
Gille joined forces with entrepreneur and investor Leaton
Irwin and his son Mac.
• Incorporated on July 20, 1920 as Wall
Pump & Compressor Company
• Renamed Quincy Compressor
Company on December 24, 1924
Original downtown Quincy, Illinois location
Company History
• Developed reciprocating (piston-type) vacuum
pumps used with milking machines
• Transferred vacuum pump technology to
gasoline pumps
• Expanded Quincy line to include air
compressors to meet service station needs
• Expanded line of compressors to air-cooled
and water-cooled
• QR-25 line of Quincy compressors
introduced in 1939
• Quincy becomes synonymous with “high quality”

Bay Minette, Alabama
