Evo Nature 2000 area and
recreation activities
Recreation, nature conservation and appropriate
forestry is combined to demonstrate multiple use
forestry

Modern kick sledges are popular and tourist operators
take groups to show places.
Kick sledges look nowadays different than before and they are
easy to handle.
Also snowshoes are popular and many foreign hikers have
discovered Evo Nature 2000 area using internet information.
The house of the wind offers facilities
for different kind of outdoor happenings.
Local tourist operator is serving field lunch.
The famous Blue Moment is a spring time outdoor
happening dedicated to wildlife matters.
Traditional fishing interests the visitors and
many like to participate.
The loghouses have been renovated and school classes
use those intensively in spring and autumn times.
This is the best way of teaching biology and use of natural
resources.
Also special days are offered to children – in this case
traditional uses of forest materials. Local farmer is
telling about former timber flowting.
Loghouses have been changed to modern classrooms
and housing facilities.
At comprehensive schools and high schools it is possible to select
special field courses in biology and forestry.
Hiking trails cover the area extensively and
you can plan your daytime visit or stay overnight.
Trail network includes lean-on shelters which are
free to use according to everyman’s right. Firewood
is provided.
You can also make a reservation for a lean-on shelter – in this
case so called Beaver lodge.
When the mushroom season is on many people come
to relax, enjoy culinaristic meal and load their batteries.
Forest trails have always a great importance for hikers
and in forest management they are kept open.
Foreign visitors enjoy walking in a Finnish forest
and pick up mushrooms.
Berry picking is a favourite hoppy not only
to local people but those living in near by cities.
Trail system is also good for riding and tour operators
use this opportunity.
Evo Nature 2000 area is a good place for all kind of outdoor
happenings. In this case Wilderness Skills Competition is
getting started at Evo forestry school.
Every year Forest and Park Service organises moose hunting
for their customers. Forestry students get trainig how to organise
such occasions.
Beaver is a must for visitors and special beaver tours
are arranged for tourists – in this case students of tourism
from France.
Three lakes are especially for those interested in fishing.
You catch rainbow trout, lake trout and big pikes.
The rivers are used for canoing which is a good opportunity to
practise teamwork.
For those who like nature photography – old fields are full
of flowers in August.
