Opens approx : 19 July 2011 – 30 September 2011
 Student number – you may request student advisor to
email Registration form
 Fees – R100 (on-line) or post/fax R150

Once student is accepted only then will student be
registered (registration phase)
Cannot apply to register on-line at this stage
Process Takes 6 – 8 Weeks (foreign applications may
take longer)
REGISTRATION DATES
 Research Master’s and Doctoral degrees (1st time applications)
1 July 2010 - 17 March 2011
 Structured master’s degree (1st time applications)
29 November 2010 - 17 March 2011
 Reregistration for Master’s and doctoral degrees
29 November 2010 - 17 March 2011
 Honours and Master’s students who write examinations in
Jan/Feb 2010 and whose subsequent registration is dependent
on such results 29 November 2010 - 17 March 2011
NB! SELECTION DEGREES HAVE DIFFERENT DATES
e.g Clinical Psychology, Masters Public Health(MPH)etc.

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED FOR
FIRST TIME APPLICANTS
o Signed preprinted registration form (by student) with Licencee stamp

Nb! No blank forms to be provided to students!
Academic records for all completed and uncompleted qualifications certified by
Licencee
Original sworn translation of complete academic records if the records are not in
English
Certified copy of Identity document/Passport/Birth certificate
Certified copy of marriage certificate or divorce decree ( if applicable)
Copy of master’s dissertation if are applying for admission to the studies for the
doctoral degree (hard copy/cd) – may not be emailed!
Refer to the course information in the my Registration @unisa masters and doctoral
degrees brochure for any additional documents required
e.g. CV, 3 years working experience

Submit the following before relevant closing dates
 Signed Registration form
 Fees
REGISTRATION FORM
 Completed and signed by student
 Student’s own postal and e-mail address
 LICENSEE STAMP
ACADEMIC RECORDS
 Copies of the original transcript of academic record for
all qualifications, whether completed or partially
completed – certified by the Licencee
 Must reflect all courses and marks/percentages
obtained
 Must indicate that the qualification has been
completed
 Also submit key of grading system
 If not in English, an original translation by a sworn
translator must be submitted with the academic
records
M & D ADMISSION PROCESS
(1) Admission process
starts with application being
received at Unisa’s
Postgraduate Qualification
Section (M&D)
(6) Student will be
registered on
confirmation from
Licencee that fees
have been paid
(5) If approved Licencee
and student will be informed
of the outcome of his
application.
(2) The application for
admission is assessed and
where applicable the application
is referred to the relevant
College to take a decision on
the academic acceptability
(3) Academic Department
evaluates and makes a
recommendation
(4) Executive Dean
approves
recommendation from
the Academic
Department
