hero in the Trojan
War

Homer told these
tales in the Iliad,
which is a war epic
The Trojan War
 This
war was the Greeks vs. the
Trojans
 It lasted 10 years
 Odysseus was the hero when he
helped the Greeks with the
Wooden Horse Trick
The Wooden Horse Trick
The Greeks told the
Trojans they were
going to surrender
 As a peace gesture,
they presented the
city with a giant
wooden horse
 The Trojans brought it
into their city

The Wooden Horse Trick
 The
Greeks were actually hiding
inside the horse
 They waited there until night
when the citizens of Troy went to
sleep
 They came out of the horse and
burned the city to the ground

Where The Odyssey Picks Up
The Odyssey is a journey epic (“Odyssey”
means journey)
 This epic details Odysseus’ long trip home
and the problems he encounters

