Transcript The Philosophy behind the new placements
How did we get to this point
Reviewed the BDA (2008) Curriculum
Framework
Hosted a number of consultation events in
2010 with placement providers
Developed a model and consulted via an on-
line survey.
How did we get to this point
The results of the survey were discussed
with Stakeholders in October 2010.
Stakeholders advised to develop the new
placement structure.
Philosophy
The learning outcomes and structure of the
new placements are based on the stages of
the Nutrition and Dietetic Care Process.

Placements
What will remain the same:
The placements will continue to be
competence based assessments.
Students will be required to gather a
portfolio of evidence to show their
performance against the learning outcomes.
Placements
What will be different ?
Or new and improved ?
Placements
The learning outcomes have been
rationalised so that there are fewer, they are
more relevant and assessment as a result will
be easier.
There won’t be any tools.
The paperwork has been simplified to make
life easier for you.
Plan for the rest of the afternoon
