The good:
◦ Loved 3M integration

The bad:
◦ Didn’t know we needed to give OverDrive a list of
all our patron record numbers and associated
barcode numbers
◦ Took about a week for everything to settle in
◦ Checkouts are not as smooth as 3M (formats)
◦ Hold counts are wrong?

Add an 037 MARC field with vendor record
identifier in subfield a and the standardized
vendor name in subfield b.
Working with Overdrive, use the Innovative
Patron API for authentication and do a ‘card
merge’
Upgrade to Encore 4.4

Innovative requires that you contact OverDrive to enable
the Patron API for your connection and complete a process
that they call a ‘card merge’
Card merge
◦ Innovative requires that your OverDrive account uses Patron API
for authentication.
◦ Those libraries using SIP2 will need to convert their authentication
to use Patron API with OverDrive
◦ Libraries will also need to convert the primary key for the patron
OverDrive record to use patron record number rather than patron
barcode
◦ OverDrive required a csv file with patron record numbers and
accompanying barcodes (scary!) to make the change

Encore Upgrade to version 4.4

Requirements
◦ Library must be on Encore 4.2 or Encore ES (4.3)
◦ Your library must be running Millennium 2011 1.3 or a
later release or Sierra 1.2_3 or a later release.
◦ Requires a backup within the last 24 hours.
◦ If you are moving from Encore 4.2 to 4.4, you need to
determine what Patron Page functions to offer your
Encore users.


Prep stage – Encore server downloads files and
sets up new software in a staging area.
Both CMPLD and MCFLS couldn’t complete the
prep phase without intervention from Innovative
◦ New directories had to be created causing problems with
prep phase completing

Commit phase—Encore moves the files from
staging to live
◦ Approximately 15 minutes of downtime, possibly
shorter.

The aftermath
◦ Everything went smoothly for the catalog – YAY!
◦ I had to spend a few hours working on our custom
javascript and Novelist Select-BOO!

