Suburban school district located in the greater Cleveland area
Relatively high wealth
3 buildings located on a campus:
o 1 elementary school (~900 students)
o 1 middle school (~500 students)
o 1 high school (~700 students)
Cuyahoga County Public Library Orange Branch is less than a half mile
away from the school campus and provides OverDrive Downloadables to
patrons

How we got started
Desire to provide students and staff with a variety of options:
1. Print (magazines, books - nonfiction and fiction)
2. eBooks via devices (i.e.: Nook Simple Touch, iPad, computer)
3. Downloadable eBooks (to an individual's personal device)
4. Audiobooks (to an individual's personal device)
5. Subscription services (i.e.: research databases/vendors)

How we got funded
PTA - provided funding for 12 nooks and some titles during the 2011-2012
school year (in conjunction with an author visit)
Orange Foundation Grant - paved the way for Year 1 with OverDrive
$4,000 grant received
Initial and ongoing costs (pricing varies by school/district size):
o $2,000 software/license
o $2,000 content

Getting started with
OverDrive in 10 steps
1. OELMA Conference - spoke with vendor
2. Arranged for a meeting with a Library and Educational Salesperson from
OverDrive
a. Provided demonstration
b. Gave us information to share with administrators
3. Completed the OverDrive "School Download Library Order Form and Fee
Schedule"
4. Participated in an OverDrive Kick-Off Call with our account specialist
5. Completed set-up

o After downloading the software, you will need to Create an Adobe ID
o You will need to authorize your computer with your Adobe ID
o The Adobe ID can be used on multiple devices
OverDrive Media Console
o After selecting an item in OverDrive, this is the software you will use to
actually read/view the item
