Key factors that influence that influence HEALTH and SAFETY in sport.

• Safety is paramount when considering or taking part in sporting events.

If sport leaders fail to ensure health and safety guidelines are not met, they could be charged with negligence within a court of LAW.

Leaders need to maintain safety of participants whilst taking part in the activity, through adhering to legislative factors, regulations and legal responsibilities.

Legislative factors…

Legislation: a generic term for laws, which includes acts, regulations, orders & directives A number of laws and acts have been devised to ensure all safety precautions and are made aware of whilst at work or during sports participation…

It ensures that employers take responsible steps to ensure health, safety and welfare of employees at work.

Duty of care:

The employer should ensure that all steps possible are taken to ensure a standard of health, safety and well-being of the individual is met whilst within the work place.

Ensuring both physical and mental well-being are taken care of.

Regulatory Bodies

A number of regulatory bodies have been set up in order to police employers and facilities, so they adhere to appropriate passed Legislations.
