• The most common family in 1974 & 75 was the nuclear
family, by over 10%. A nuclear family is two parents and
their child or children, this is a traditional family unit
• The second most common family was a couple without
children.
• There were also single people, they made up about 25
percent of the American adult population.
• Generally men held jobs, women worked around the
home and took care of their kids, and children went to
school.
