Concept of digital divide.
• Concept of digital divide is used to describe a
gap between those who have ready access to
information and communication technology
and the skills to make use of those
technologies from those who do not have the
access or skills to use those same technologies
within a geographical area, society or
community. It is an economic and social
inequality between groups of persons.
Concept of digital divide.
• Digital divide is also a term that refers to the
gap between people who have easy access to
the internet and those who do not. A lack of
access is believe to be a disadvantage to those
on the disadvantaged side of the digital divide
because of the huge knowledge base that can
only be found online.
The digital divide appears in number of
different contexts including:
Differences between rural and urban internet
access.
Socioeconomic differences between people of
different races, income and education affects
their ability to access the internet.
Differences between developed and
developing nations in terms of availability of
internet.
Features of old Economy.
Old economy still experiences growth but at a
slow rate. Industries that are commonly
considered to be involved in the old economy
are energy, steel and automobile
manufacturers.

 Work force Characteristics: Workers are mainly men with a
high proportional of semi-skilled and unskilled.
 Business model: It is traditional with command and
control.
 Key Technology Drivers: Automation and Mechanization.
 Decision making is vertical.
 Success measure: Profit

 The market changes are slow and linear.
 There is constrained of space, time and distance.
 The economic development is steady, linear and quite.
 Production focuses on internal processes.
Generally speaking, the old economy is
