Venice, one of the most romantic and evocative cities in the world.
A true gem, gently laid down on a beautiful lagoon on the northern adriatic sea.
In the heart of the legendary Most Serene Republic, or Serenissima,
with its characteristic bridges, spanning on the canals navigated by gondolas, its monuments, churches and
architecture, you will find a treasure of history, arts, flavours and warm people ready to greet you.
Venice is always worth a visit and offers a wide choice of interests and activities, any time of the year

Venice, capital of the Veneto region lay on a group of 118 islands separated by canals and linked by bridges. It is
surrounded by a shallow lagoon connected to the sea. The whole city, as well as its lagoon are listed as World
Heritage Site.
It is one of the most important tourist destinations in the world, with lots of attractions, major events, and
above all it is a living museum. It takes only a light stroll trough its narrow streets and squares to feel strong the
history, to spot incredible buildings and to have a good bite at one of the many local bistrots.

The Organizing committee presents Venice as a most valuable candidate for the next EME Conference in 2016.
The conference location will most likely be the Laguna Palace, a 4 stars hotel in the mainland city center, but
close and easily connected to the historic city center on the lagoon.
The hotel has 355 rooms with all the usual amenities, an excellent restaurant and a conference center with a
750 seats auditorium, and plenty of spaces for display purposes, side meetings or technical measurements.
The conference site is located in the proximity of the lagoon, a 10 mins walk away from the high speed train
station, a 10 mins drive from the International Marco Polo Airport, and 30 mins away from the Treviso Regional
Airport (Ryan Air base).
Not far from the hotel there are plenty of restaurants, for every budget, oriental, pizza houses, pubs and good
fish restaurants.

The Organizing committee will work in close touch with the Florence 2008 EME Conference organizers, and the
2016 Conference would be conducted in a similar way.
We are already working to ensure a pleasant stay, with a selection of activities for the attendants and their YLs.
The program will span through the conference days and a little more for those who would like to stay for a
while longer.
The Veneto region offers so many attractions it would be hard to describe them all here but, as an appetizer,
we are planning among the rest to do a sightseeing tour of Venice, a trip to Verona, the Romeo and Juliet City, a
wine tasting experience, and possibly a shot to the mighty Dolomiti mountains.
