In our lesson today, we will

song.

• Read a few examples of Limericks.
* Write one original limericks about yourself or a
friend.

What are Limericks?
Limericks are humorous verses which are made up
of five lines
Example,
There once was a girl in Ghana. A
She really likes banana. A
One day, she met a monkey. B
The monkey was very smelly. B
She said, I am going back to China. A
Main Features of a Limerick?
•The limerick poem takes it’s name from
Limerick, Ireland.
•A limerick is a humorous, nonsense poem.
•The standard form of a limerick is a stanza of
5 lines with a strict rhyme scheme. (AABBA)
•Lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme.
•Lines 3 and 4 rhyme.

The doctor cured his ill
With a huge purple pill
