(ANZMRRN). This is an introduction to a fledgling group formed to
promote, support and encourage research within the profession. The
presentation will outline
0 the purpose of the group
0 members of the group
0 terms of reference
0 what has been achieved so far
0 future plans of the group
Background
0 Concept introduced in 2012 at the TRW at TROG
0 A steering committee across Australia and NZ has
been formed
0 RTs
0 Data managers
0 Academics
Aim
0 The aim of this
project is to
provide a freely
available research
network to bring
Australian and New
Zealand radiation
therapists (RTs)
together in all
aspects of research
Purpose of the network
0 To develop high quality RT led multi-disciplinary
research projects that will benefit patients and
staff across Australia and New Zealand
0 Improve communication and collaboration between
RT researchers in Australia and New Zealand
0 To facilitate international networking and
collaboration opportunities
0 Initially with the Canadian Radiation Researchers
through a link to the Canadian Radiation Research
Network
Purpose of the Network
0 To provide resources and educational tools about
research for novice researchers
0 Facilitate multi-centre research projects
0 Facilitate the path to publishing and the quality of
publications written by RTs
0 Share and transfer knowledge through mentorship
Outcomes
0 An increase in RT participation in research
0 Development of high quality research projects driven
by RTs
0 Increase capacity to develop high quality RT driven
research that will benefit patients and staff through
evidence based practice
0 Improved publication record
Endpoint
Endpoint
0 Primary endpoint is to have:
0 Improved the current RT workforce capacity to generate
high quality multi-centre research projects that directly
benefit Radiation therapy care in Australian and New
Zealand
0 This will happen through collaboration via a central
research network
0 Of equal importance is to assist novice researchers to
engage in research activities though provision of
useful research materials and mentorship
What's happened so far?
0 Discussions around structure and content of the web
space and network
0 TROG will host the website
0 Looking to ask the PAEB for enough funding for the
web-space and about a o.4 FTE project officer
0 A short survey to be distributed to all Australian and
NZ RTs to inform the development of the network
The Survey
0 To provide the most relevant framework the
questionnaire will cover
0 Your current level of research involvement
0 Your thoughts on the Network
0 Any additional support required
0 Ethics has been approved
0 Email distribution to all registered RTs in Australia
and New Zealand
