18 years ago, Dave Lewis was a partner in the
telecommunications firm GVNW. With the passing of
the Telecommunications Act of 1996, Dave’s ruralbased ILEC customers were finally able to sell long
distance services. The challenge, though, was to
buy LD at a price low enough to be competitive.
To overcome this hurdle, Dave came up with a
simple idea. If the ILECs would work together, they
could create enough scale to buy LD at a better
wholesale rate — and ANPI was born.
