 Safe, Accountable, Flexible, and Efficient Transportation Equity Act - A Legacy for Users  Provides for $286.5 Billion over 6 years  Provides incentive money in section 410 for impaired driving programs  Expired September 30, 2009 – now on a continuing authorization

Criteria for Section 410 Funding

  Low fatality Rate – Alcohol Fatality Rate of <=.5/100vmt, OR Meet 5 of the following (in 2008 and 2009):         High Visibility Enforcement Prosecution and Adjudication Outreach Increase the Rate of BAC Testing in Fatal Crashes Sanctions for BAC’s over .15

Identifying Resources In Your Community  Identify organizations, institutions, businesses in your jurisdiction  Inventory what resources each might contribute to your drug court program  Identify who is responsible for outreach  Team involvement is essential

Methods For Connecting With The Community  Create steering committee to formalize linkages and offer continuing oversight  Conduct DWI court education programs

Quality Assurance

 Identify barriers to successful operation  Establish standards for review of programs  Monitor use, quality and effectiveness of programs and services
