Background
• H. C. Pietersen and Associates was started by Herman Pietersen, registered in October 1987
and formally commenced practicing as consulting civil engineers in January 1988.
• In May 1989 Piet Lombard entered into partnership with Herman and the close corporation,
Pietersen Lombard and Associates, was formed.
• Piet Lombard left the practice in June 1992.
• In January 1994, Tim James joined Herman Pietersen and the close corporation, Pietersen
James & Associates, was formed.
• In April 1997 the practice reverted to HC Pietersen & Associates.
• In 2008 the practice became known as Pietersen Consulting
