of IIF??

Personal Story…

ENR Article…
…He heard a line in a
video being shown
that jarred his
thinking on injury

”Everybody deserves
a future.”

What is IIF?

IIF is a commitment, both personal and
organizational, to create an environment
absent of injury. It is NOT a Goal, Result or
Trophy to seek or acquire. It is however, a
Mindset Intolerant of any Level, Frequency
of Severity of Injury… (JMJ)®

Why IIF??

Rules and Regulations are NOT enough
Safety Cops are ineffective

Less Safe/At Risk Behaviors*
Certainty
If we continue to put ourselves at Risk and
allow our co-workers to be at Risk, someone will
get hurt… It is not a matter of IF but WHEN!
So, We must ask….
Why do we put ourselves At Risk?






Schedule
Budget
Time
Equipment or the Lack thereof
We did it this way – Last Time
It is what the company Expects of
us!!!
Three Key Challenges..
1. Observing my co-workers and
catching myself preoccupied or
“Asleep at the Wheel.”
2. Speaking up when I see someone At
Risk.
3. Being open to change when someone
speaks to me.

So who do we need to work on to get to an
Injury Free workplace?





Simply work on ourselves
Work on our relationships
Work on our Company outlook
And commit to change…
Oh Yes… And this does take time and
energy…

Excerpt from article sent to IDR…
‘Like most we looking for an objective approach
to upgrade our safety program and ultimately
reduce our injury record. What we found is
that we had all the tools for that to happen in
place and what we really had to work on was
Ourselves and Our Attitude toward safety’…
