Full Family Sanction

KWP work eligible
participants who do
not cooperate with
the program rules
are subject to
sanction and
eventual
discontinuance of
their K-TAP benefits
Who will it effect?

A parent/caretaker
relative who has
received at least 6
cumulative months
of K-TAP (including
any out-of-state
benefits)
 Has been sanctioned
at least 3 cumulative
months AFTER
8/1/2005
Who will it not effect?

Parent/caretaker
relatives that are:

Exempt

Currently has good
cause

This is not appropriate
for “W” cases, disc a “W”
case.
Participation is Preferable!



Every effort should be
made to avoid imposing
a penalty
Utilize all available
resources such as
Targeted Assessment
Program, Voc-Rehab,
etc.,
Use KAMES Barrier
assessment to identify
potential difficulties
What happens on KAMES?


KAMES Automatically
implements the action to
discontinue indicating
code 536. This trumps
other discontinuance
codes except 660. (60month)
Alternate programs to
MA, including the
sanctioned individual, if
appropriate.
What happens on KAMES?

Automatically refers
the case for Safety
Net services through
P & P.
 Posts a spot check
to review the Food
Benefit case. K-TAP
Disc cures the Food
Benefit
What to do about reapplications?

Once an individual receives a full family sanction he/she must
cure the full family sanction prior to reapproval of the K-TAP case,
regardless of the reason for the most recent discontinuance. A full
family sanction may be cured by a determination that the
individual has good cause, has become exempt from participation
in KWP activities, or has demonstrated compliance by
participating for 15 calendar days.

