INTRODUCTION
KENDRIYA VIDYALAYA SANGATHAN –
 a premier organization in India administering
1087 schools as on 01.11.2011
 known as ''Kendriya Vidyalayas'‘
 with 10,58,450 students as on 31.03.2011 and
49,286 employees (including outsourced) on rolls
as on 01.07.2011.
 Since inception in 1965, the Kendriya Vidyalayas
(Central Schools) have come to be known as
centres of excellence in the field of secondary
and senior secondary education
 promoting national integration and a sense of
''Indianness'' among the children while ensuring
their total personality development and academic
excellence.....

The Kendirya Vidyalaya Sangathan :
Is a registered as a society under the
Societies Registration Act (XXI of 1860) on
15th December 1965.
its primary aim is to provide, establish,
endow,maintain control and manage the
Central Schools (Kendriya Vidyalayas)
located all over India and abroad.
has a three tier management structure
with its (I) Headquarters (II) Regional
Offices managing a cluster about 45-50
schools and (III)
has Kendriya Vidyalayas spread all over
the country and abroad each having their
Vidyalaya Management Committees.

GENERAL BODY OF SANGATHAN
The general body of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is the
apex body.
CHAIRMAN-The Minister of Human Resource Development, in-charge
of the Kendriya Vidyalayas scheme, is the Chairman of the
Sangathan.
DEPUTY CHAIRMAN The Minister of state in the Ministry of Human
Resource Development is the Deputy Chairman .
VICE-CHAIRMAN Officer of the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, specified by the Government of India for this
purpose, is the Vice Chairman of the Sangathan.
OTHER MEMBERS are appointed by the Government of India from
amongst senior officers of the
Ministries of Finance, Defence, Works and Housing, Health , department
of Personnel and Training as well as distinguished educationists including
representatives of the Central Board of Secondary Education. National
Council of Educational Research and Training and State Governments
besides Members of Parliament, Women representatives and Members of
Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.

To advice about the academic and co-curricular programmes of Kendriya
Vidyalayas –
To help prepare guidelines for implementation of these programmes –
To help Kendriya Vidyalayas realise, among others, the objectives of the
Sangathan, viz., to develop the Vidyalayas as "School of Excellence"
in the context of the National goals of education –
To promote national integration and to review publication programmes
and suggest improvements

To scrutinize the accounts and budget
estimates of the Sangathan
To consider and make recommendations to
the Board for new expenditure on account

the Sangathan besides getting concurrent
audit conducted.

MISSION OF KENDRIYA VIDYALAYAS
The Kendriya Vidyalayas have a four - fold mission,
To cater to the educational needs of children of
transferable Central Government including Defence
and Para-military personnel by providing a common
programme of education.
To pursue excellence and set the pace in the field of
school education.
To initiate and promote experimentation and innovations
in education in collaboration with other bodies like the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the
National Council of Educational Research and Training
(NCERT).
To develop the spirit of national integration and create a
sense of "Indianness" among children.

OBJECTIVES

SALIENT FEATURES
 Common text-books and bilingual medium of instructions for
all Kendriya Vidyalayas. All Kendriya Vidyalayas affiliated to
Central Board of Secondary Education.
 All Kendriya Vidyalayas are co-educational, composite schools.
 Sanskrit is taught from class VI to VII
 The quality of teaching is kept reasonably high by an
appropriate teacher-pupil ratio.
 No tuition fee for boys up to Class VIII, girls up to Class XII and
SC/ST students and children of KVS employees.

SHRI .AVINASH
Shri Avinash Dikshit born on 10th June
1964 is one of the distinguished 1986
Batch of IDAS Officers of the Country.
He has done his B. Tech from IIT Kanpur
in Electrical Engineering. Shri Dikshit
joined Indian Defence Accounts Services
(IDAS) on 29-12-1986 at the age of 22
years.
Acknowledging his meritorious services,
Government of India selected him for a
UN Mission Programme and posted him
to head DAD Cell at Rawanda in the year
DIKSHIT 1994 and served there from 08-12-1994
to 16-04-1996.
On 7th April, 2010, he has joined
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as
Commissioner consequent upon his
appointment for a period of five years.

Sh. O. M. Prabhakaran, a 1986 batch officer from
Indian Statistical Services (ISS) has joined
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan as Addl.
Commissioner consequent upon his appointment
for a period of five years with effect from
October 4, 2010.
He was the Regional Head of Mumbai Office of
the National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO)

from 2007 to September, 2010 as also that of
Pune Region up to 2006

AdditionalCommissioner (Academics)
Dr. Dinesh Kumar has joined Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan, Hqrs. office, New Delhi as Joint Commissioner
(Acad) on 12th January, 2011. He completed his Ph.D in
1991 from University Department of Zoology, Bhagalpur
University, Bhagalpur on topic of Cytogenetic Toxicity of
Pesticides. Before joining KVS, Dr. Dinesh Kumar has
worked as Associate Professor at DESM, NCERT, Sri
Aurobindo Marg, New Delhi. Earlier, he has also served in
Dr. Dinesh Kumar
Colleges and University in Arunachal Pradesh. He has
experience of teaching as well as research in the area of
Cytogenetic and Science Education including Biology

Dr. Shachi Kant joined Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan in the year 1995 as Education
Officer..
In the year 2001, on subsequent promotion
to the next rank he took over as the Assistant
Commissioner of KVS Regional Office Chennai
Dr .Sachi Kanth From there on his further promotion to the
post of Deputy Commissioner and joined KVS
Headquarters as Deputy Commissioner
(Training).

Shri M Arumugam joined Kendriya
Vidyalaya Sangathan in the year 2009 as
Deputy Commissioner (Finance)
He rendered maximum service in Central
Board for Workers Education, Nagpur as
Financial Advisor.

He is known for his practical approach to
the various issues involved in Financial
Control and Financial Administration.

Shri U.N. Khaware joined Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan in the year 1995 as Education Officer.
On subsequent promotion in the administrative
hierarchy he took over as Assistant Commissioner in
KVS in the year 2004.
In 2010 on further promotion he joined KVS
Headquarters as Deputy Commissioner.
Shri .U. N .Khaware During his stay in KVS Regional Office Bhopal he is
credited to have undertaken a study of primary
education in KVS. The study led to the development of
guidelines entitled “Strengthening of Primary
Education” in KVS which still serves a guiding light to
Primary Teachers.

Dr. E. Prabhakar joined Kendriya Vidyalaya
Sangathan in the year 1995 as Education
Officer.
In the year 2004 he took over as Assistant
Commissioner in KVS on promotion.

he took over as Deputy Commissioner in KVS
Headquarters.
DR .E. Prabhakar
Dr. Prabhakar holds a Master Degree in Zoology
and Ph.D. Degree in Animal Physiology.
He is known for his simplicity and practical
approach to vital issues of school governance

M.A., M. Phil (JNU, New Delhi), M.Ed is 1985
Commission Army Educational Corps Officer.
Before joining K.V.S. on 01 Apr 11 as OSD
(Defence) he was posted at Indian Military
Academy, Dehradun. During his long and
illustrious career he has had prestigious staff
and instructional appointments, including those
where only selected officers are posted such as
Principal of Rashtriya Military School, Chail,
Col. K. N. PadhaInstructor at IMA and NDA. He is MBA and Gold
Medalist in B.Ed. Col KN Padha is a keen
sportsman. He represented in Services Squash
Championship twice and Tennis tournaments.31
