 Attendance has been between 100-150

 Career Center, Maine Vocational Rehabilitation and
Chamber of Commerce lead effort
 Held in March
 Open to public, with emphasis on hiring Veterans
 60 employers (must be hiring to attend)
 Employment training breakout sessions
 600+ Attendees last year
 58 confirmed direct hires

 Sanford Vet Center, Preble Street Resource Center and
VFW lead effort
 Unique approach for rural area
 Call Center (Vet Center)
 Survey takers at Food pantries/soup kitchens
 Mobile patrol
 Looked for all homeless (Vets/nonVets)
 Immediate referrals to PSRC for assistance

 FY 12: Total homeless – 51; Veterans - 18
 FY 13: Total homeless – 78; Veterans - 30
 Community Impact:
 Sanford Housing Veterans initiative
 Increased Preble Street Resource Center services in York
County
 Much tighter relationship between homeless programs,
Vet Center and VSO’s
