What is YPAR?

Youth Participatory Action Research, or
YPAR, is a research methodology that employs
the participants themselves – the youth – as
researchers, positioning them as experts in the
research contexts
Steps in the YPAR process
o Identify a problem in their community
o Collect data on the problem using
various research methodologies
o Analyze the data
o Draw up an action plan based on the data
o Take collective action in addressing the
problem in the hopes of creating positive
change in their communities.
