 Founded in 1995 and legally registered in 2002  Vision: “To become a financially sustainable Sacco serving a prosperous enterprising membership in a rural setting”  Mission: To provide sustainable quality financial services that promote improved livelihoods of the rural and peri-urban active poor members.

 Farmer focused Sacco(MBO)

 Geographic coverage: Started in the core district of Mbarara  Spreading to other 4 neighboring district  Four branches  Agriculture main activity.

  Exists when all people, at all times ,have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.

As a fin. Coop we developed and implements financial products and services that promote increased food and income security at household level.

  Provision of financial services(savings and loans) Diversified products  Savings: Ordinary, compulsory, minor accounts, collection accounts, money transfers…  Loans: Banana improvement, general agriculture, livestock, commercial, school fees, emergency

 Social goals and objectives  Offer services to the rural & peri-urban active poor members  Offer sustainable quality financial services that meet the needs of our clients(product review and development,train & sensitise clients in fin.literacy)  Promote improved livelihoods of our clients(clients graduating from living below 2$ per day,children attending school,increased sav.

   Small holder farm house holds have increased investment in their farming business.

 The initiative was developed through participatory step by step process to come to agreement on the intervention design with the partners of the program.

 MBADIFA(district farmers association) is designated to support farmers in developing remunerative agricultural enterprises in enhancing food security.

 EBO’s role in the program design is to provide farmer friendly savings and loans services .

 Trias Uganda is a like minded investor whose role is to provide local partners with financial, technical and institutional development and strengthening

       Better Agribusiness financial skills Mission focus Enhanced outreach efficiency Remunerative markets Farmers exchange and exposure visits Improved utilization of sacco financial services and improved farming Non- financial services to members

 Reduced on entrenched widespread poverty, diseases and illiteracy.

 More than one million people’s livelihoods have been improved through saving investments increased household income and food security.

    Typically ,its members are farmers,has 30 group members(18 males and 12 females) The group received various trainings as result of programme intervention.

All group members have atleast an activity that generates income per week.

They grow crops for both commercial and consumption purposes(Banana plantations)

  All members with school going children are able borrow from EBO or mobilize from their savings and send their children to school without defaulting as it used to be before.

Contributed to the economic well being of the members in the area.
