Parochialisms: writing about themselves
without common shared values or norms

adopt non-interference principle
Mutual ignorance: no common understanding
of history—individually or collectively as a
group.
Fixed mindset: “we” are better than “others”,
top down approach with little or no reference
to ordinary people
