Under
“Site Specific Component” Covered Threshing Floors mitigating the
problem of threshing of Summer paddy
helped directly 116 no. GPs, 178 WHS
creating 1780 ha. of irrigation potential
area in villages where boring of STW are
not feasible.
 Extensive use of Line Sowing with better
intercultural
operation
helped
in
increasing productivity.
Implementation Strategy

Implementation of Rice demo. and interventions under “Site Specific” is
done through involving PPS (Field Management Committee of farmers).

Organising farmers, inputs handling, close monitoring of these programs
are through PPS under the supervision of VLEW / ADO at field level.

Enhancing minor irrigation facility for rainfed areas. Provision for
conveyance pipe for effective irrigation.

Construction of covered threshing floor to address threshing problem of
Summer Paddy.

Community based interventions especially for small & marginal farmers.

Enhancing farm mechanization to counter labour shortage problem for
smooth field operations.

23 nos. of farm level storage units are being established under the technical
guidance of SAU with the involvement of community. Community of the
concerned demo plot will be custodian of the unit.

Marketing intervention through community storage facilities and value
addition through involvement of Women SHG.

Efforts in increasing Procurement & Storage Facility

Procurement done through FCI and ASAMB. Last year procurement
initiatives by State Govt. through ASAMB ensured remunerative price of
paddy and regulate local market prices.

This effort to be continued. At present local market price of Paddy is
almost at par with MSP.

Storage facility of 23 nos. farm level storage units to be utilised by the
concerned community.

Issues & Constraints

Considering the no. of Small & Marginal farmers (85.6% of total farmers)
existing subsidy norms on inputs needs upward revision as cost of all
inputs are increasing.

Implementation of time bound programmes (Demonstrations) may be
allowed immediately after approval of SLSC.

Scarcity of less than 10 year old Rice varieties is an area of concern. A
system needs to be developed for availability of such varieties along with
its certification.

Provision for Power Tiller may be made under BGREI as mechanization is
a must for increasing productivity.
