with either a second one or freezer as

conditioning – a window unit, maybe a
split system or perhaps a ducted
system

supermarkets it must be refrigerated.

this industry.

most people don’t realise it is

A qualified person in air conditioning &
refrigeration generally gains their
qualification through the apprenticeship
system
During this training, they will learn how to:
Install systems
Commission them into
operation
Maintain them
Repair them if they break down

The current trade course ‘Certificate 3’ Air
Conditioning & Refrigeration qualification is
nationally recognised.
Due to the high safety standards and
concerns in this industry a licence is required
at both the national and state levels.
To obtain these licences, a person needs this
qualification

The TVET Certificate 2 Electrotechnology ‘Air
Conditioning & Refrigeration Careerstart’
program provides participants a pathway to
the Certificate 3 trade qualification.

trade areas (particularly in the mechanical,
electrical or plumbing sectors) it is possible
to build a career with multiple qualifications.

equipment and systems being installed, the
air conditioning & refrigeration industry
sector has been nationally recognised as
being a ‘skills shortage area’.
It seems that there is always a job somewhere
in this industry
And the remuneration rewards can be very
good as well

provides great opportunities to work overseas
with many employers in other countries
