Eight week Art History class
Fall or Winter Session
The course is designed to dive down deep into the art
and history of the city, meeting once a week for 3
hours concentrating on a specific decorative
monument in Florence. It's a wonderful way to study
the city in-depth as well as get to know like-minded
expats in Florence.
All classes are held on-site in a museum, piazza or
monument in Florence.
Class time: Thursday 9:45 AM-12:45 PM
Week one: Sacred Spaces
Site visit: San Miniato and Medieval Walk
Week two: The Duomo Complex
Site Visit: Cathedral of Florence, Museo dell’ Opera
del Duomo, and Baptistry
Week three: Michelangelo Scultore
Site Visit: Casa Buonarotti, Medici Tombs and
Accademia
Week four: High Renaissance Painting
Site Visit: Uffizi Gallery
Week five: Palazzo della Signoria and Palazzo
Vecchio
Site Visit: Piazza Signoria and Palazzo Signoria
Week six: Magnificenza: Granducal Florence
Site Visit: Palazzo Pitti and Silver Museum
Week seven: Piety and Patronage
Site Visit: Confraternity of San Martino, SS
Annunziata, Ospedale Degli Innocenti, Lo Scalzo.
Week eight: Architecture Through the Ages
Site Visit: Architecture Walk
