The Birth in the Flesh of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ
Εἰσοδικὸν— Entrance Hymn for Christmas

Your Nativity, O Christ our God, / has shined upon the world the light of knowledge; /
for by Your Birth they that worshipped the stars,/ by a star were taught / to worship You,
the Sun of Righteousness,/ and to know You, the Dawn from on high. O Lord, glory to
You.
KONTAKION
Apolytikion of Christmas
The Virgin on this day gives birth to Him who is transcendent in essence; and the earth
offers a cave to Him who is unapproachable; Angels with shepherds give glory; the Magi
do journey with a star; for to us is born a young Child, the pre-eternal God.
Those who have been baptized in Christ have clothed yourselves in Christ; Alleluia.
We wish you a Merry and Holy Christmas!
Celebrating the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ should fill us with infinite wonder and
happiness, because it is the sign from God that, in His love, all things can be forgiven,
and that there is no reason for any barriers to stand between ourselves and God, or
between ourselves and each other. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas by experiencing amazement and joy at the awesome Incarnation of Christ, made accessible to
us by receiving Holy Communion.
We are called, “With fear of God, faith and love, draw near.” Fear of God, faith and
love means commitment to one God, one Truth and oneness in love, patience and
forgiveness; in this oneness, Orthodox Christians are invited to approach for Holy
Communion.

Let earth receive her King.
Let every heart prepare him room,

And heaven and nature sing,

Joy to the world, the Savior reigns!
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains,
Repeat the sounding joy, Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.
He rules the world in truth and grace,
and makes the nations know
The glory of His righteousness,
and wonder of his birth, and wonder of His birth,
and wonder, and wonder of His birth.
