The implementation of molecular biomarkers
for the determination of the ecological status
in transitional environments

Abstract
The release of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) to the environment
may influence negatively the ecosystem health, which often limits
and sometimes disqualifies the ecosystem biodiversity. As a matter of
fact the increasing concentration and distribution of PTEs in the
ecosystem by mismanagement of industrial activities, overuse of
agrochemicals, and waste disposal are causing worldwide concern.
This presentation will describe the developing of early warning tools,
based on the different implementation of molecular biomarkers for
the assessment and monitoring of ecological status in response to
PTEs in transitional environments.
